This sounds so romantic and practical for an intimate ceremony with just your close friends or family!

Actually it is!!! The cruise companies make it easier and easier each year for thousands of couples to have a very special ceremony either in their wedding chapel/room on-board or on the ship’s deck with the ocean at your back.

  1. Bring your group along with you on the cruise and get married at some point during the week with a lovely luncheon or dinner celebration.
  2. Day in port weddings are popular....while other shipmates are enjoying their land excursions, you take your wedding group to a nearby land location for the ceremony and reception with local clergy and staff.
  3. Cruise with your group to a special spot for a stay-over on land for a few days and have the ceremony and reception and fly home.
  4. Have your ceremony prior to leaving the harbor on the cruise ship and enjoy a nice reception while the rest of the world comes on board….then your guest leave to go ashore before the ship leave the harbor. They bring the wedding groups aboard prior to the other passengers and hold their ceremonies before the speakers announce "All ashore who's going ashore."

No matter what you do, understand some of the unique circumstances you will be asked to address:
  1. Passports and birth certificates
  2. You require a clergy....because often the ships captain can not legally marry you.
  3. Will require a coordinator at the other end to complete the details.

Most cruise lines have an on-board coordinating staff to handle weddings and corporate events plus the seminar or groups that come on board.

There are a host of services aboard who give special perks to wedding couples and honeymooners. It can be a well orchestrated event, with great music, flowers, food and exceptional photos of the entire event.....the chefs and coordinators love putting these events together and bend over backwards to help you have the wedding of your dreams.
