Who can resist endless miles of white beaches, palm trees and delightful people who smile and greet you, speaking your language in the hotels and stores. It all comes together in Cancun with the added plus of history and exploration. You can get there by direct flight or cruise ships.

When booking a honeymoon or getaway, there are best times to book. November through March is cooler and there are less tropical storms, or storms of students visiting. [The U.S. college students take over during spring break and graduation]. You may want to look for a small resort north or south of the main city if going at that time. The weather is humid, tropical and you are in for warm romantic nights with late dinners along the beach.

The surf is great and warm and at the major hotels is well posted for any danger, but just jumping in along the coastline anywhere, may not be in your best interest. Most hotels carry a multitude of sports equipment for you to enjoy. The concierge can book excursions, dives, boating, restaurants and historic area trips. They also know the favorite drinking spots and nightclubs.

Many all-inclusive resorts and major full-service hotels exist along with private homes with servants. Some on the Cancun pennisula hotels offer meals in two or three nearby sister hotels to choose from. The smaller resorts with all-inclusive will have you eating in the same dining area from the same chef daily. We suggest canned soda or bottled beer and bottled water. All inclusive for most stays includes: meals, snacks, drinks, sports equipment and your rooms. This is often a discount on golf, tennis courts and spas too.

The sunsets are amazing so book your hotel room or beach to face the sunset from the Cancun peninsula, otherwise the north and south hotels set on a northeast view to the beach or a southwest view.

We rented a VW and got around fairly well in the city, but for the excursions, we found guides and transportation. The area is heavy with armed guards, [They say to handle problems with drug traffickers] To be on the safe sign, don't drink and drive and carry your passports - their jails are not a pleasant place and very hard to get out of.

The natives say they are only famous for the white sand and do not boast any pottery or silver making, but certainly have delightful stores and street or beach vendor to buy from.

Destination Weddings in Cancun are a little more complicated, requiring you stay up to 15 or more days.

Couples often enjoy their honeymoon first and then have a ceremony and reception or special dinner the last day before they leave.

If you invite guests to your destination wedding, find out about group rates for hotels and airfare, which can save 20% or more off regular prices. Plan as far ahead as possible so that people can arrange their vacation schedules to join you. _For your ceremony_, under a treaty between the United States and Mexico, Mexican civil marriages are automatically valid in the United States. You need certified copies of birth certificates, driver's licenses, or passports; certified proof of divorce or the death certificate of any former spouses (if applicable); tourist cards (provided when you enter Mexico); and results of _blood tests performed in Mexico within 15 days before the ceremony._
