CARIBBEAN ISLAND WEDDINGS & HONEYMOONS SPICE UP YOUR WEDDING & HONEYMOON author of Beautiful Weddings & Events www.WeddingLinks.com While many of us look for a unique experience for our Caribbean Islands wedding, honeymoon or vacation we see couples enjoying everything from sun bathing to extreme sports activities on the beautiful island of Granada. This tropical island give couples a variety of wedding or honeymoon venues from luxury resorts along the enjoyable coastline to historic plantation house set on the hillsides. The white sand beaches and diving reefs are abundant with many romantic private coves for swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving with the amazing Granada rainforests to experience. How to describe this sovereign state? We found an unspoiled relationship to mother earth, red tiled roofs, tiny fishing villages, Creole and spicy foods, beautiful coral reefs teeming with colorful fish for the divers, floral scent to the air, waterfalls and rain forests, sounds of waves lapping or steel bands rhythms in the evenings would be a start. There is busy activity within the townships and a relaxed attitude along the shore. The natives are renowned for their hospitality and express an attitude toward enjoying each day. The islanders are friendly and most speak English with knowledge of several languages. We met many who came to live there and work from a variety of cultures, each bringing their own goals and zest for life. This is an exciting Caribbean Island to be married or enjoy a romantic honeymoon. Hanna of Baskets and More met us at the waterfront. She is a delightful British transplant. She owns a bridal boutique, www.basketsandmoreshop.com in St. George. Hanna is an expert wedding planner who also assists couples in planning their honeymoons on Granada. As we drove the winding roads to several unique venues, we discussed her enjoyment of opening a bridal boutique that also brings business from many neighboring islands who find their invitations, gift baskets and favors and a lovely selection of gifts. These services and products help the couples making Granada their wedding destination. Her honeymoon planning services for couples helps them access the best hotels, activities and restaurants for their budget while giving them the all-important unique experiences the islands offer. Hanna shared her knowledge of the wedding venues and took us to a recently remodeled Victorian plantation house. The experience was a step back in history as we toured the romantically furnished bedrooms open to Caribbean breezes. The comfortable Victorian house had colorful furnishings and views of the ocean at every turn. Outside, we were led to a large event room that would work well year round, rain or shine. Later we met on a huge shaded and furnished deck with views of the ocean to enjoy a delightful lunch. Our hosts were part of an exceptional group (team) that completes all the details of a bride's vision. The plantation house is a perfect destination-wedding venue for family and friends to relax and enjoy the celebration. We moved through the capital of St. George quickly and toward the Grenada Grand Beach Resort with the sugar white sands of Anse Beach and every possible amenity a honeymooner or destination bride could want. http://www.granadagrand.com. The immaculate hotel offers several wedding venues, pools with tropical gardens and ocean front honeymoon suites. The outdoor lawn setting enjoys exceptional views of the bay. A unique gazebo as a focal point for ceremonies enhances this Grand Anse Beach Resort area. The friendly staff and catering services see every detail of your wedding and honeymoon desires. Granada is the main island of a country comprised of seven islands with St. George hosting the central government. It is part of the Grenadines and considered one of the Windward Islands, formerly known as the Spice Island's trail of beautiful Caribbean jewels sprinkled across the blue ocean. The Grenadines boast 45 beaches with coves and reefs around the islands and they are just one hundred miles from Venezuela. Granada and Carriacou are both host to famous and colorful Carnivals during the pre-lent season before Ash Wednesday. At the turn of the century most of the world's sugar was raised on the Caribbean islands with plantations dotted throughout the islands. Today, some of our nutmeg, cinnamon and cocoa come from these island regions. The weather is a warm and sunny 80 degrees on the average, yet and can be quite hot and humid during the rainy season (June through November). Seldom affected by hurricanes, it does receive increased rain and storm conditions. The island is visited by the Northeast trade winds and evenings cool down a bit. The inner island hillsides consist of rain forests with colorful birds and animals and excellent hiking trails. Unique places to see: The Grand Etang National Park has a 13-acre lake with a volcanic crater 1,740 feet above sea level; the Seven Sisters Waterfall as a rain forest hike; St. George Bay hosts many resorts and a beautiful stretch of white sand along the Grand Anse Beach.
