While each of us looks for a unique experience for our Caribbean Islands wedding, honeymoon or vacation. Granada Islands give couples a variety of wedding or honeymoon venues from luxury resorts along the enjoyable coastline to historic plantation house settings on the hillsides. White sandy beaches and diving reefs are abundant with many romantic private coves for swimming and snorkeling and scuba diving and the amazing rainforests to experience. Couples enjoy everything from sun bathing to extreme sports activities.

How would we describe this sovereign state? Unspoiled relationship to mother earth, red tiled roofs, tiny fishing villages, Creole and spicy foods, beautiful coral reefs teeming with colorful fish for diving, flower scent to the air, sounds of waves lapping or steel bands rhythms in the evenings, extreme sports and water sports are abundant. There is a busy structure within the townships and a relaxed attitude along the shore. The natives are renowned for their hospitality and express an attitude toward enjoying each day. The islanders are friendly and most speak English with knowledge of several languages. We met many who came to live there and work from a variety of cultures - each bringing their own goals and zest for life. This is an exciting Caribbean Island to be married or enjoy a honeymoon.

While visiting the island we were met by Hanna, a delightful Brit that runs Baskets and More, a bridal boutique in St. George. http://www.basketsandmore.com Hanna is an expert wedding planner and also assists couples in planning their honeymoons on Granada. As we drove the winding roads to several unique venues, we discussed her enjoyment of opening a bridal boutique that also brings business from many neighboring islands to gain their invitations, gift baskets and favors and how these services and products help the couples making Granada their wedding destination. Her honeymoon planning services for couples helps them access the best hotels, activities and restaurants for their budget while giving them the all-important unique experiences the islands offer.

Hanna shared her knowledge of the wedding venues and took us to a recently remodeled Victorian plantation house. The experience was a step back in history and as we toured the romantically furnished bedrooms and house we were led to an large event room that would work well year round - rain or shine. Later we met on a huge shaded and furnished deck with views of the ocean to enjoy a delightful lunch. Our hosts were part of an exceptional group (team) that completes all the details of a bride's vision. The plantation house is a perfect destination-wedding venue for family and friends to relax and enjoy the celebration.

We moved through the capital of St. George quickly toward the Grenada Grand Beach Resort with sugar white sand beaches and every possible amenity a honeymooner or destination bride could want. http://www.granadagrand.com. The immaculate hotel offers several wedding venues, pools with tropical gardens and ocean front honeymoon suites. The outdoor lawn setting enjoys beautiful views of the bay. A unique gazebo as a focal point for ceremonies enhances this Grand Anse Resort area. The friendly staff and catering services see to all your needs.

Granada is a country comprised of seven islands with St. George, Granada being the central government. It is part of the Grenadines and considered one of the Windward Islands and part of the romantic Spice Island's trail of beautiful Caribbean jewels sprinkled across the blue ocean. They boast 45 beaches, coves and reefs around the islands and they are just one hundred miles from Venezuela, South America. Granada and Carriacou both host famous and colorful Carnivals during the pre-lent season before Ash Wednesday. At the turn of the century most of the world's sugar was raised on the Caribbean islands with plantations dotted throughout the islands. Today much of our nutmeg and cinnamon and cocoa come from the region.

The weather is warm, sunny (average 80 degrees) and can be quite hot and humid during the rainy season from June through November. It is seldom affected by hurricanes, but does receive increased rain and storm conditions. The island is cooled by the Northeast trade winds and evenings cool down a bit. The inner island hillsides consist of rain forests with colorful birds and animals.

Unique places to see: The Grand Etang National Park has a 13-acre lake in a volcanic crater 1,740 feet above sea level and many couples choose the Seven Sisters Waterfall as a rain forest hike. St. George Bay hosts many resorts and a beautiful stretch of white sand with the Grand Anse Beach.
